Ten, Nine, Eight

In a charming ritual, a young girl and her loving father count backwards from 10 to 1 as she prepares to go to bed for the night. Starting with 10 small toes all washed and warm, the text concludes with 1 big girl all ready for bed. The final page, which depicts a small circular image of the girl sound asleep with her arms around her favorite stuffed bear, is a wordless tribute to zero. A calming and comforting look at the sometimes difficult end-of-the-day transition from playtime to bedtime, TEN, NINE, EIGHT is illustrated with color paintings and was a 1984 Caldecott Honor book.
